At Superior Smiles, our number one objective is to help you look after your teeth so they last you a lifetime. However, whether it’s because of lifestyle, genetics or an accident, there are times when dentures are required to replace the loss of teeth.

Denture technology has come a long way over the past few years and with advances in imaging and compounds, modern dentures can be virtually undetectable. More importantly, the process of taking impressions and manufacturing means less turnaround time and more comfortable fitting dentures.

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are manufactured from a range of Health Department approved materials including acrylic, nylon, porcelain, resin, or metal, moulded together to fill the spaces of the mouth where teeth are no longer present. The purpose of a denture is to provide the person with the ability to chew food thoroughly to aid proper digestion and to give them a great-looking smile.

The framework of a denture is generally made of acrylic, nylon, or metal. The specific materials used to fabricate your denture framework will depend upon the type of denture you are having placed. This will be discussed with you at the time of your visit.

Dentures are manufactured to the specific needs of a patient’s mouth. In some cases, a person may have lost enough teeth in one part of their mouth and require a partial denture.

Partial Dentures
This type of denture is secured in place by the teeth on either side of the vacant space.

Upper and Lower Dentures
These dentures are made for people who have no teeth in either the upper or lower jaws or both.

They are placed in the mouth and gels can be used to assist with keeping them firmly in place.

The first thing to understand is that it’s a painless process. We begin by taking an impression of your teeth, ensuring a custom fit. This moulding is verified at 3 stages before manufacturing the final denture. If you have a partial denture, we will attach it to existing teeth for a secure feel.

Denture prices will vary between dental practices and also the materials that are used in their production.

As a general guide, a full set of dentures would generally start at around $2000. Obviously, this price will vary from patient to patient, due to their specific requirements and the materials used. The price quoted is a guide only.

We are confident that our prices are affordable. The specific costs are something we discuss with you at the time of your personal consultation. Most Health Fund providers have benefits built into their plans for Dentures, so it’s best to check with them first. We can even assist you with payment plan options and accessing your Superannuation.
