How Does IV Sedation Work?

Before your dental procedure, a licensed sedation specialist will insert a fine needle into a vein in your hand or arm, connected to a tube, delivering the sedative directly into your bloodstream. Your vital signs, such as your pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, will be continuously monitored to maintain safety and ensure no adverse reaction. You may feel a bit drowsy after the procedure. However, the effects gradually wear off post-procedure. Arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you 12 hours post-IV sedation.

You must not be given Methoxyflurane if you or a family member are suspected of having an allergic reaction to Methoxyflurane or other inhalation anaesthetics.
